The Mirror, a Self Portrait

This piece is conceptual work I created while going through a major life transition. It is a story of reinventing myself after working in the high stress corporate world for decades. The mirror’s base is made of iron. Although the “vine” and “bird” are meant to represent something in nature they are imitations - cold and lifeless. A shed antler from a deer and the sprouting buckeye nuts are symbols of change and rebirth. The reflection in the mirror is my true self, a world as yet unexplored, full of color, life and potential.
